Interior design FAQs Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, ask us on WhatsApp or during your consultation.

Getting started

  • Q01What happens at the first consultation?

We meet at the studio, at your site or over video, usually for about an hour. We talk through how you live, what you want to change, your timeline and a working budget, and look at any floor plans you have. You leave with a clear sense of scope and next steps, and there is no obligation to proceed.

  • Q02What should I bring to the first meeting?

Floor plans or the builder's layout, if you have them, and a few photos of spaces you like. It also helps to know your likely move-in date and a budget range. If you have neither yet, that is fine. We can help you work them out.

  • Q03What are the stages of a project?

Every project moves through six stages. Brief, concept, 3D design, drawings and BOQ, execution and handover. Each stage ends with your review and approval, so nothing moves to site until you have seen and agreed it.

  • Q04How do you work out the budget?

We agree a working budget at the brief stage and design to it. Once drawings are ready, we prepare an itemised BOQ listing every material, quantity and specification. You can see where the money goes room by room, and adjust finishes or scope with clear information before anything is ordered.

  • Q05What is a BOQ, and why does it matter?

A bill of quantities is an itemised list of everything that goes into your project, from plywood and hardware to lighting and paint. It makes the cost transparent and gives both sides a clear basis for the contract. It is also what our site team checks against during execution.

  • Q06What is the difference between turnkey and design-only?

With design-only, we deliver the concept, 3D visuals, drawings and BOQ, and you appoint your own contractors to build it. With turnkey, we also execute the work under one contract, with our own supervised teams and one point of contact. Turnkey suits owners who want a single team to be accountable for the result.

  • Q07Will I see 3D visuals before work starts?

Yes. We prepare 3D visuals of the key rooms so you can see layout, materials, colour and lighting together. You review them with us and we refine them until they feel right. Execution starts only after you approve the design.

  • Q08Can I make changes after the design is approved?

Yes, though the earlier the better. Changes made before materials are ordered are usually simple. Changes after ordering or once work is on site may affect cost and timeline, and we will explain both clearly before you decide.

  • Q09Will I get to see materials in person?

Yes. We take you on selection visits to see stone, veneer, tiles, fabrics and hardware in person, because colour and texture look different on screen. For NRI clients, we show samples on video in daylight or courier key samples.

  • Q10Who supervises the work on site?

Every execution project has a dedicated site supervisor who manages the trades day to day and checks each stage against the drawings. Our designers visit at key milestones. You are welcome on site whenever you like.

  • Q11How will I know how the project is going?

You receive regular updates with site photos and progress notes, and we review the schedule with you at set points. For NRI clients, updates come every week over WhatsApp, with short videos and a written report at each milestone.

  • Q12Can you work with my architect?

Yes. We coordinate with architects, structural engineers and MEP consultants from the start, so interior decisions fit the building. For new construction, joining early lets us plan electrical points, plumbing and ceiling heights before walls close.

  • Q13I live abroad. How does the process work?

We run briefs and design reviews over video, scheduled for your time zone. Drawings, 3D visuals and the BOQ are shared online, and a trusted local site team handles execution. You receive weekly WhatsApp updates and the home is handed over cleaned, snagged and with keys ready.

  • Q14Can you renovate while we are living in the home?

Often, yes. We phase the work so part of the home stays usable, seal off work areas to control dust and agree working hours with you. For kitchens and bathrooms, we plan temporary arrangements in advance.

  • Q15Can you work after hours on a commercial site?

Yes. Where a building, mall or running business requires it, we schedule noisy or disruptive work outside trading hours or in phases. We agree this with you and the building management before work begins.

  • Q16How do you design around our brand?

We start with your brand guidelines, your customers and how the space needs to operate. The concept translates that into layout, materials, lighting and signage, so the space feels specific to you. We coordinate with your brand or marketing team at each review.

  • Q17What happens at handover?

Before handover, we walk the home with you and record any snags, from a misaligned shutter to a paint touch-up. We close each item, deep clean the space and hand over care notes for the finishes. For NRI clients, the home is ready with keys waiting.

Timelines

  • Q01How long does a villa interior take?

For a villa of 4,000–12,000 sq ft, design typically takes 12–16 weeks and execution 20–32 weeks, depending on scope and how quickly decisions are made. Imported materials and custom furniture can extend this. We share a detailed schedule once the brief is agreed.

  • Q02How long does an apartment interior take?

For a 3 or 4 BHK apartment, design typically takes 7–12 weeks and execution 10–16 weeks. Society rules on working hours can affect the pace. We confirm the schedule after the site survey and brief.

  • Q03How long do a kitchen and wardrobes take on their own?

Typically 9–14 weeks from brief to installation. Design and drawings take around 4–6 weeks, manufacture 4–6 weeks and installation 1–2 weeks. Site-built joinery or special finishes can add time.

  • Q04How long does a commercial fit-out take?

A typical office, store or café takes 7–11 weeks to design and 8–16 weeks to execute. We plan backwards from your opening date and flag early if the date is at risk. Mall or building approvals can affect the start date, so we factor those in from the beginning.

  • Q05Do I need to fly in during the project?

No. The whole project can be run remotely. If you plan a visit, we build a studio and site day around your trip so you can see materials and progress in person.

  • Q06How long does styling take?

Typically 8–12 weeks, most of which is waiting for orders and custom pieces. Selections take around 2–3 weeks, and installation and final styling take a few days.

Budgets and payments

  • Q01How are payments structured?

Payments are linked to project stages. There is a design fee at the start, followed by execution payments tied to milestones on site, such as order placement, completion of civil and electrical work, and installation. The exact schedule is set out in your agreement before work begins.

Vastu and planning

  • Q01Do you follow Vastu?

We work with Vastu principles when the family wants them. We discuss your preferences at the brief stage and fold them into the plan, for example the placement of the pooja room, kitchen and master bedroom. If you work with a Vastu consultant, we are happy to coordinate with them.

  • Q02Can you design a pooja room?

Yes. We design pooja rooms and pooja units in stone, wood and brass, with lighting and storage for daily use. We plan the location and orientation with Vastu in mind if the family follows it.

Materials and quality

  • Q01Should I choose a modular or site-built kitchen?

Modular units are factory-made, precise and faster to install. Site-built joinery allows unusual sizes and details that match the rest of the home. We often combine both and will recommend what suits your space, budget and timeline.

  • Q02Do you design wet and dry kitchens?

Yes. A wet kitchen handles heavy cooking, grinding and frying, while a dry kitchen stays presentable for guests and light meals. We plan ventilation, drainage and storage for each, and choose surfaces that handle heat, oil and turmeric.

  • Q03Is there a warranty on kitchens and wardrobes?

Yes. Modular carcasses and hardware carry a warranty against manufacturing defects, and the terms are set out in your agreement. Hardware brands often carry their own warranties too, which we pass on to you. Damage from misuse or water leaks from other sources is not covered.

  • Q04Do you help with maintenance after handover?

Yes. We provide care notes for stone, veneer, fabrics and hardware at handover. If something needs attention after you move in, contact the studio and we will arrange a visit. Ongoing maintenance beyond the warranty can be arranged separately.

  • Q05How do you choose materials?

We choose materials for how they perform in Hyderabad's climate and in daily use, not only for how they look. Every material is specified in the BOQ by grade and finish, so you know exactly what is going into your home.

For NRI clients

  • Q01Who receives deliveries and deals with the society while I am away?

Our site team receives and checks deliveries on your behalf and coordinates with your builder, society and utilities. Anything that needs your signature or approval is flagged to you in advance.

Other questions

  • Q01Can you style a home that is already done?

Yes. Styling covers furniture, lighting, curtains, rugs, art and accessories for homes where interiors are already in place. We keep what works, add what is missing and place everything ourselves.

  • Q02Can you work with furniture and art we already own?

Yes, and we encourage it. Family pieces and art you love give a home its character. We plan around them and fill the gaps with new pieces that sit well alongside.
